Nestled in the heart of Tanjung Tokong, Chuan Foong Kopitiam, also warmly known as Yok Fong Cafe, is a charming haven for both locals and visitors seeking a taste of authentic Malaysian street food. Operating from 2 PM to 6 PM, this humble hawker stall-style cafe entices patrons with a delightful selection of comfort food that shines through its simplicity and flavor.

The cafe specializes in a variety of beloved local cuisines, with standout dishes like the Mee Goreng, hailed as one of the best in Malaysia by enthusiastic customers. This dish is known for its rich and savory flavor, elevated by a squeeze of lime, creating a bursting sensation of delight on your palate. One charming review captures this sentiment perfectly: “Seriously the best mee goreng in Malaysia haha. I don't even like mee but this one is out of this world.” At just RM5.50, it’s a taste adventure worth every cent, though be prepared for the portion to be on the lighter side.

Another favorite is the Pasembur, which leaves a lasting impression with its bold flavors and the perfect amount of spice. A customer raves, “Wow… The pasembur is really, really good. Far beyond my expectation.” Served with a house-made sauce that stands out among the many stalls in the area, this regional specialty is definitely a must-try for anyone wanting an authentic Penang experience.

The atmosphere at Chuan Foong Kopitiam is quaint and welcoming, enhanced by the friendly demeanor of the couple running the stall. Their warmth adds a personal touch that makes the meal feel all the more special. As one patron beautifully mentions, they are “humble and friendly,” which transforms a simple meal into a delightful experience.

Complementing the savory dishes, the cafe also offers traditional breakfast fare like Toast with Kaya and Boiled Eggs, as well as excellent local coffee that rounds off your visit. The aromatic flavors of their dishes create an inviting atmosphere that encourages you to savor each bite while mingling with fellow diners.

Whether you’re on a solo journey or enjoying a casual outing with friends, Chuan Foong Kopitiam promises to capture your heart—and your taste buds. With offerings that resonate with both locals and tourists, it undoubtedly adds a gem to the culinary landscape of Penang. Don't miss out on this vibrant blend of flavors during your visit to this enchanting island!

Seriously the best mee goreng in Malaysia haha. I don't even like mee but this one is out of this world. Open 2pm-6pm. It is just a hawker stall in kopitiam manned with 2 people. So you have to wait a while to get your food.. RM5.50 per plate but the portion is kinda small for big eater.

Simple small town coffee shop. Wantan mee is delicious, with the port lard, and wantan n char siew. The couple selling this are humble n friendly. There is toast n kaya too with boiled eggs. Local coffee is nice too. We came for breakfast.

Wow... The pasembur is really really good. Far beyond my expectation. The sauce has stronger taste than other pasembur stalls in TB/TT, and perfect spiciness. Today was my first time and I tapao only. However definitely will come back for the pasembur. Btw, this stall uses charcoal so next time definitely will try their mee goreng. Beside pasembur there is also economy rice in this kopi tiam, and I guess 1 more wantan mee stall. The economy rice is good and cheap. Kopi peng was also good.

On my solo adventure, I stopped by this kopitiam to try something from the mee mamak stall. Been staying in Penang forever but never once I came here. I opted for bihun goreng with egg (you can choose either mee or kuey teow also) which was RM6. Delicious and aromatic. Flavour elevated after squeezing the lime. One of the best mee mamak stall I've been to. The mamu (uncle) was also friendly. Quiet stall in the evening, so you can enjoy your mee goreng with ease of mind with a cup of teh tarik.

Indeed one of the best mee goreng mamak I’ve ever had. Still so good even after all these years! Always salivating thinking of it! The Limau ice frm the Kopitiam is also very very good. A must try in Penang or when you’re making your way to Batu Ferringhi.

One of my favorite mee goreng in Penang. I would add the sotong at rm8 only. The downside is they don't sell drinks so you have to BYOB. Vegetarian friendly.
